Tour description

Second Italian museum for number of visitors, the Galleria dell’Accademia displays the largest amount of Michelangelo’s sculptures, including the original Michelangelo’s David, easily the most famous sculpture in the world.

Accademia was founded in the 18th century so that students at the nearby Accademia di Belle Arti could study masterpieces firsthand. After the David was moved here in 1873 it has been identified as “Michelangelo’s Museum”.
But the Galleria offers much more: works from 13th to 16th centuries, including paintings by Botticelli; a collection of 19th century plaster models and casts; and the section of antique musical instruments.

Discover this must-see museum with our professional local guide.

  1. Anna-Marie

David is truly beautiful and amazing — a very emotional experience to see him 🙂

  2. Susan McAdams

It is not possible to comment on the emotion you feel when, entering the room, you turn around and in the end you see it, imposing, beautiful, majestic and everything else disappears.
A must see and enjoy at least once in a lifetime.
