Venture inside the famous marble quarries in Carrara by jeep and learn the 2000 years history of the extraordinary landscape.
The tour starts with a combined jeep and walking visit of the marble quarries. Drive to different, active quarries of up to 1000 meters above sea level, and hear how the noble stone is mined. Look inside the vast white wounds that open up on the wild slopes of Carrara, and learn how the quarries have provided marble to towns, cities and monuments as the Pantheon and to many sculptures of the Renaissance.
The day continues in Colonnata to enjoy an exquisite lunch with the renowned Lardo di Colonnata. It follows a Pietrasanta visit, known as the Italy's 'Little Athens'. This wonderful village is considered the gem of Versilia thanks to its colorful streets, art laboratories and small museums.
