Tour description
The tour begins with a visit to the ancient and evocative Romanesque parish church, Pieve di Sant'Agata in Arfoli, located along the scenic Setteponti route and nestled in olive groves. Here, you'll explore the historic oil mill, complete with traditional millstones and old presses, and learn from an expert how olive oil was produced in the past. You’ll also enjoy a tasting of different extra virgin olive oils produced by the estate. The tour then continues to the modern oil mill (5-minute driving), where you can admire the advanced machinery. From October through the end of November, you'll have the opportunity to witness the mill in full operation during the olive pressing season.
Picnic Option:
Enjoy a picnic in the olive grove, complete with a basket containing freshly prepared local delicacies: cured meats (ham, finocchiona, and aged salami), 24- or 48-month-aged Parmigiano Reggiano from a historic dairy in Parma, local Sangiovese wine in a traditional straw-covered flask, fresh bread from the local bakery, water, chocolate made with olive oil, almond biscuits, and a small bottle of extra virgin olive oil.
Lunch Option:
As an alternative to the picnic, we can arrange a lunch at a nearby restaurant with stunning views. The meal includes a traditional menu with a contemporary twist, featuring an appetizer, first course, second course, side dish, dessert, and coffee.
